In a written statement made by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, information was given about the Russian automobile sector, to which Western companies have stopped shipping.
The statement noted that new car sales fell by 27 percent to 404 thousand in the first four months of the year compared to the same period in 2024, while new imported car sales in April also fell by 40 percent compared to the same period last year.
Western automobile companies, which were market leaders in Russia until February 2022, announced that they were withdrawing from the country with the start of the war in Ukraine.
Car sales in Russia, which had come to a standstill, have entered a recovery process, especially as Chinese companies increased their exports to the country and domestic manufacturers increased their production.
