In the 37th week of the Super League, Göztepe hosted Galatasaray at home. The champion left the away game in Izmir with a 2-0 victory.

Dries Mertens, who plays for Galatasaray, made a statement after the Göztepe match.

“WE ARE VERY HAPPY”

The Belgian star said:

I am very happy. Players who haven’t played much also got the opportunity. Göztepe is a good team and we played in a good atmosphere. The fact that we won this match shows what a quality group it is. We are very happy. Having a very quality team makes us very happy.

“I HAVE TO DECIDE”

Mertens said the following about the emotional moments during the championship celebrations:

Yes, it was a very emotional moment. I first came here for a year but I had a wonderful 3 years here. We had very enjoyable moments in our private life. Now I have to make certain decisions. It’s sad but I have to make a decision.

“WE WILL SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN”

When asked, “Will you cross paths with Galatasaray again in the coming years?” , Mertens said the following:

You never know. If I work, Galatasaray is a great club too. I tried to do my best when I was on the sidelines. Now we have to trust the people who will make the decision. We’ll see what happens.

“IT WAS VERY EMOTIONAL”

Dries Mertens later made the following statement:

This week was very emotional. I don’t know what to say. Special moments all the time. I don’t know what’s ahead, what I’m going to do. I spent 3 wonderful years here. It’s hard to leave now, but I don’t know…
