Investigations into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) continue… The CHP hosted the Socialist International’s meeting in Istanbul. Following the meeting, which was also attended by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, souvenir photos were taken. THEY REMOVED THE İMAMOĞLU BANNER In the photo, everyone, including DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları, held up banners that read “Free İmamoğlu”, which means “Freedom for İmamoğlu” in Turkish. However, the banner that was used in the souvenir photo at the meeting was not limited to the meeting hall. ‘İMAMOĞLU’ BANNER ON THE BRIDGE CHP Chair Özgür Özel took the participants of the meeting on a Bosphorus tour. While the boat passed under the July 15th Martyrs Bridge, CHP deputies Suat Özçağdaş, Ali Gökçek, Mahmut Tanal, Nimet Özdemir, İlhami Özcan Aygun and Baran Yazgan hung a banner that read “Free İmamoğlu”, which means “Freedom for İmamoğlu” in Turkish. ÖZEL GAVE SUPPORT WITH APPLAUSE Meanwhile, Özgür Özel raised his hand to salute the banner, while those next to Özel also supported it with applause. Sharing a post on his social media account, Özgür Özel said, “This is our response to the putschists who banned the posters and banners of our Presidential Candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu: This is just the beginning, continue the fight!” THE POSTER WAS TAKEN DOWN The poster in question was taken down while Özgür Özel was passing under the Bosphorus Bridge with the Socialist International Representatives. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had banned the use of photos, video and audio recordings of Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is being held in Silivri Prison, on public transportation vehicles such as the metro, metrobus, buses and ferries.
